Police are investigating the tragic shooting of a farm worker in Limpopo who was allegedly accidentally shot by an 11-year-old boy.
The incident happened on 11 October 2025 at a farm in Thabazimbi.
11-YEAR-OLD BOY SHOOTS FARM WORKER
The police arrived at the scene and found the farm worker lying on his side.
They reported that the victim had a bullet wound on his chest.
Emergency services arrived and declared the victim dead on the scene.
POLICE ARREST BOY’S FATHER
Police investigations revealed that the minor was allegedly shooting at guinea fowls when he mistakenly shot at the farm worker.
Subsequently, officers arrested the boy’s 43-year-old father, charging him with negligent handling of a firearm.
DUO TO APPEAR IN COURT
The provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, says on 13 October 2025, the father and son duo will appear in the Thabazimbi Magistrate’s Court.
“This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder that firearms must be handled with the utmost care and stored securely at all times,” the provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, added.
Police are still investigating the matter.
