5 of the best photo-worthy spots in Cape Town

Cape Town is the ultimate backdrop for taking some of the best photographs.

Whether you’re a professional photographer or just want a fancy shot for social media, there is something for everyone.

Below, we look at five of the top spots you can visit and use as your next background.

V&A Waterfront

There are ample photo ops at the V&A Waterfront. If you want to theme your photos, you have a mix of urban views, ranging from Silo District, Battery Park, and views of the CBD to the harbour and sea views.

There are the iconic yellow photo frames, one is at the Silo District, and the other is near the Den Anker restaurant. The harbour views can be paired beautifully, featuring Table Mountain in the background. You might be lucky and spot a few seals lounging about, too!

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens

For a more natural landscape as a backdrop for your photos, Kirstenbosch Gardens are ideal. You have unlimited photo ops here, like the stunning “Boomslang”, which is the name for the Tree Canopy Walkway, a 130-metre-long bridge that winds its way through the treetops at the Arboretum.

Bo-Kaap

Bo-Kaap is renowned for being one of the most colourful streets in Cape Town, characterised by its multicoloured houses that line the streets. Many of the houses here are painted in vibrant shades ranging from yellows, pinks, blues, purples, and reds. Explore this area and find a colourful backdrop to suit your pose!

Table Mountain

This is a must-visit if you want majestic views of Cape Town and beyond! Take a trip up the mountain via the Aerial Cableway and take some snapshots along the way. Once you’re on the mountain, you can also find another yellow frame to take a photo in and add to your photo album.

St. James Beach

St.James Beach, near Muizenberg, is widely popular and characterised by the colourful row of beach huts. From bright blue, yellow, red, and green, you can get a few iconic shots here with beach vibes all the way. Whether you come for sunrise or sunset, it’s one of the top locations for some of the best photographs.
