Kaizer Chiefs flop signing proves a vital point to fans and the board

Kaizer Chiefs have made several signings in recent seasons. Needless to say, it’s been a mixed bag on that front.

Smit and Morris to leave Chiefs

Camrin Smit will leave Kaizer Chiefs despite impressing the technical staff. The teenager spent 13 months on the sidelines with a serious achilles injury. Another player on the opposite end of the career spectrum, Tashreeq Morris, could also leave Naturena after failing to secure a regular place in the first team. The 31-year-old has zero appearances in the 2025-2026 Betway Premiership campaign. Another player destined for the exit door is playmaker Ethan Chislett; the 27-year-old arrived from third-tier English side Port Vale but has yet to make his debut. Just because a player has played in England doesn’t mean he’s good enough for the technical level required in South Africa’s top tier. We also shouldn’t necessarily be tempted by a player just because of the nationality on his passport.

Remaining February fixtures for Kaizer Chiefs

Chiefs have a busy schedule in the second month of 2026. They’ll be hoping that Rushwin Dortley plays some part. The 23-year-old has yet to feature in the 2025-26 campaign, but that hasn’t shown in recent weeks. The Glamour Boys are on a stunning run of six consecutive clean sheets across all competitions.
