Orlando Pirates could well take advantage of Cape Town City’s PSL relegation, following their loss to Orbit College yesterday.
Youngster Jaedin Rhodes was spotted in tears following the final whistle, but those could soon be wiped away by the prospect of Soweto. The Buccaneers have longed for the 22-year-old’s services, first trying in January this year.
Simply put, Rhodes is too good for the National First Division, and one can only presume he will be eyeing an exit to ensure he maintains his trajectory, opening the door for Orlando Pirates, who were already keen on signing him before yesterday’s result.
“One of those reinforcements could be a long-time target, Jaedin Rhodes. Although the 22-year-old has endured an underwhelming season with Cape Town City, he remains a high priority on the Buccaneers’ list,” a source said.
“The club [Orlando Pirates] has been met with resistance by City in previous attempts to lure Rhodes to Gauteng, but according to sources, will try once more in the upcoming window. Complicating matters will be the Citizens’ peculiar situation.”
Moloisane inbound?
Meanwhile, another player on the Buccaneers’ radar is Stellenbosch enforcer Thabo Moloisane, who is yet to confirm whether he is open to leaving the Cape Winelands outfit.
“I think when you have interest in your name, it shows you’re doing well and you’re playing well, and I’m just happy that my work is finally showing,” he told SABC Sport.
“I’ve prayed for days when I’m a Bafana Bafana player, and I try by all means to remain as consistent as I can, and at the moment it’s just to continue doing what I can, and God is in control, so we’ll see.”
“For me, I know the right time, everything that has happened in my career has always come at the right time,” the Orlando Pirates target said.
“So I’m just waiting for that; I understand sometimes football is a short career, but at the same time, I also believe that God will give me the right opportunity that will change my life at the right time. God is in control, we’ll see.”
Should Orlando Pirates sign Rhodes?
