Orlando Pirates will surely be monitoring long-term target Jaedin Rhodes, who, just yesterday, endured one of sport’s most profound heartaches: relegation.
Cape Town City’s 1-0 defeat to Orbit College was the final nail in the coffin for what has been a disastrous season for the Mother City outfit, a remarkable decline for a club who beat Chiefs and Pirates in back-to-back games last January.
Rhodes will likely want to remain in top-flight football, insinuating that it should be easy pickings for Orlando Pirates.
“One of those reinforcements could be a long-time target, Jaedin Rhodes. Although the 22-year-old has endured an underwhelming season with Cape Town City, he remains a high priority on the Buccaneers’ list,” a source said before the offseason window.
“The club [Orlando Pirates] has been met with resistance by City in previous attempts to lure Rhodes to Gauteng, but according to sources, will try once more in the upcoming window. Complicating matters will be the Citizens’ peculiar situation.”
Western Cape gem
Meanwhile, Thabo Moloisane is another Western Cape gem on Orlando Pirates’ radar, and one who will be harder to lure. The talented defender is said to be enjoying his time at Stellenbosch but hasn’t ruled out a move entirely.
“I think when you have interest in your name, it shows you’re doing well and you’re playing well, and I’m just happy that my work is finally showing,” he told SABC Sport.
“I’ve prayed for days when I’m a Bafana Bafana player, and I try by all means to remain as consistent as I can, and at the moment it’s just to continue doing what I can, and God is in control, so we’ll see.”
“For me, I know the right time, everything that has happened in my career has always come at the right time,” the Orlando Pirates target said.
