Diddy’s saga to continue as Cassie issues a plea to the judge

Sean “Diddy” Combs is to remain in custody following what many view as a victory for the mogul and musician.

Diddy was found guilty on two of the five charges he faced. The two counts the jury found him guilty of involve the transportation of individuals for prostitution. The charges centred around coercion and conspiracy brought forward by his former lover Cassie’s testimony, were dismissed.

DIDDY WILL STAY BEHIND BARS UNTIL HIS SENTENCING

Diddy was acquitted of the more serious charges around sex trafficking and racketeering. These could have seen him spend anywhere between 15 years in prison to life. Analysts are suggesting that he might only be handed a single-digit sentence or even community service and perhaps a hefty fine.

The judge did, however, deny his request for bail with concerns as to whether Diddy might still be a danger to society.

CASSIE’S LAWYER PRAISES HER STRENGTH

Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, singer Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura, was a central figure in this trial. She was involved in both civil and criminal proceedings released a statement through her lawyer, Douglas Wigdor.

Wigdor suggested that his client’s courage in filing a civil suit in 2023 opened the proverbial gates for more intensive investigation to be done as it pertains to Diddy.

“She paved the way for a jury to find him guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution,” he said.

Wigdor hailed Cassie’s strength. He is adamant that her testimony has raised awareness around the conduct of powerful men in the entertainment sphere.

“This case proved that change is long overdue, and we will continue to fight on behalf of survivors.

“By coming forward with her experience, Cassie has left an indelible mark on both the entertainment industry and the fight for justice.”

CASSIE’S PLEA TO THE JUDGE

Cassie’s lehgal team sent a letter to Judge Arun Subramanian and expressed a fear for her safety and that of the other victims should Diddy be released on bail.

In theletter to the judge, her lawyers highlighted this concern along with a few others. It stated, “Ms Ventura believes that Mr Combs is likely to pose a danger to the victims who testified in this case, including herself, as well as to the community.”

Her legal team pushed for the court to deny bail, citing his violent history.

WHAT HAPPENS TO DIDDY NOW

Despite the resounding shrieks of relief that reverberated around the courtroom after Diddy was found not guilty, the rapper and producer will remain at MDC Brooklyn, where he has been since September 2024. He does still face up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for October 3, 2025.
