Orlando Pirates fans might want to savour Relebohile Mofokeng while they still can. The 20-year-old prodigy continues to attract global attention, with FC Cincinnati, Zamalek, and Al Ahly reportedly circling.
His father recently spoke to the media, declaring, “My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026… Not Saudi Arabia — he’s still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions.”
The Buccaneers haven’t confirmed any negotiations, but insiders say interest from Europe is only growing. With the arrival of Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City, the writing might be on the wall.
Rapoo the next big addition?
Meanwhile, the club could also be set for youthful reinforcements. Neo Rapoo, SuperSport United’s U20 star, is reportedly on Orlando Pirates’ radar. He’s coming off a stellar season with Matsatsantsa and helped South Africa win the U20 AFCON title.
“Both Pirates and Chiefs are pushing hard,” a source told The South African. “He’s seen as the future Bafana left-back.”
With Paseka Mako released and Maela retiring, Pirates are clearly building toward the future.
Another defender the Buccaneers are eyeing is Thabo Moloisane, who continues to weigh up his options.
“I think when you have interest in your name, it shows you’re doing well and you’re playing well, and I’m just happy that my work is finally showing,” he told SABC Sport.
“I’ve prayed for days when I’m a Bafana Bafana player, and I try by all means to remain as consistent as I can, and at the moment it’s just to continue doing what I can, and God is in control, so we’ll see.”
“For me, I know the right time, everything that has happened in my career has always come at the right time,” the Orlando Pirates target said.
Is this the end of Mofokeng’s time at Orlando Pirates?
