Water interruption planned for parts of Tshwane on Wednesday

The City of Tshwane has announced a 10-hour planned water supply interruption on Wednesday, 23 July, to facilitate urgent upgrading and tie-in connection work on the water network in Erasmus Extension 44.

Water interruption to affect multiple areas

The maintenance work will begin at 8:00 and is expected to continue until 18:00. According to the city, the affected areas will include Erasmus Extensions 4, 5, 8, 15, 19, 20, 21, and 25, as well as Cultura Park Extension 11, Kristalpark, and Versterpark AH.

The city added that all efforts would be made to complete the project within the estimated timeframe to minimise disruption to residents.

Call for responsible use

In light of the water interruption, Tshwane has asked residents to conserve water during planned maintenance and as a regular practice.

“Residents are urged to make the following water-conservation measures part of their normal lifestyle,” the municipality said.

These measures include avoiding garden watering with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 6:00 and 18:00, not washing vehicles with hosepipes, and refraining from filling swimming pools. The city also encouraged the use of grey water for gardening and flushing toilets.

Report leaks

The municipality has appealed to residents to report all forms of water wastage.

“Leaks, burst pipes and incidents where water is wasted must be reported. Where possible, water-saving devices should be installed,” the statement read.

While apologising for the water interruption inconvenience, the City of Tshwane emphasised the importance of the work in maintaining a sustainable and efficient water system.

“The City of Tshwane apologises profusely for the inconvenience which may be caused as a result of the above-mentioned work,” it stated.
