Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou praised new signing Oswin Appollis’ performance following the team’s win over Polokwane City on Saturday afternoon at the Orlando Stadium.
Goals from Appollis and Patrick Maswanganyi were enough to seal a 2-0 win for the Buccaneers and seal their spot in the MTN8 semi-finals. Having signed 11 new players, Ouaddou started the match with three new signings and all of them impressed on the day.
Appollis was a top performer, earning the Man of the Match award. Ouaddou credited his players for supporting the former Polokwane City star.
Ouaddou off to a winning start as Orlando Pirates coach
“I’m happy for him, you know Appollis for a long time,” the Pirates coach told SuperSport after the match.
“When he is surrounded with good players you can even see the best of him, but not only him.
“I want to congratulate all my boys, he took the best man – man of the match because of the collective.”
Ouaddou has made it clear that Orlando Pirates’ target is to win another MTN8 title.
“So, I think it’s a big victory for us but it’s not finish. We have to go through and the target is to win the MTN8,” he added.
“Yes, with Orlando Pirates winning every cup- we know it’s not easy, but we will give our best to try and win it.”
The Buccaneers shift their focus to the Betway Premiership, where they will play Sekhukhune United in their first game next weekend.
