Cold front to bring disruptive rain and strong winds in Western Cape

The Western Cape will see the cold front arrive on Saturday, with scattered showers over the western areas and isolated rainfall in the central parts.

“We expect rain and strong winds in coastal regions starting Saturday afternoon,” forecaster Phemelo Zonke confirmed.

Damaging Winds and Rough Seas Expected

The South African Weather Service has warned of damaging winds along the southwestern and southern coastal areas and rough seas that could make navigation difficult.

Zonke added, “Winds may reach levels that make sea travel hazardous, so caution is advised.”

Sunday Brings Continued Rain in the South

Rain will extend into southern coastal regions by Sunday, with cold conditions across much of the province. Cape Town will see highs of 15°C, while Sutherland remains particularly cold at around 12°C.

“The cold front’s effects will persist into Sunday before easing into the new week,” Zonke said.
