Gauteng residents should brace for a cloudy Friday, 15 August, with widespread showers expected for the weekend.
According to Mpho Rasimphi, a forecaster, the weather system will intensify Friday overnight, bringing a 60% chance of rain over Tshwane and surrounding areas.
Johannesburg is forecast to peak at 24°C on Friday, offering mild daytime warmth before the weekend cools.
Cloudy skies for Friday, and weekend rain to persist
The wet weather will continue into Saturday, with showers stretching from Gauteng into the Free State and North West.
“It will be a warm day in Gauteng, as temperatures will remain in the mid-20s,” Rasimphi noted.
Cooler nights across the province
As the rain lingers over the weekend, cooler nights will take hold across Gauteng. Some areas in the central interior are expected to experience minimum temperatures below 10°C. The combination of rain and cooler air could prompt residents to prepare for damp mornings and chilly evenings.
