Kaizer Chiefs linked with shock 4 goals in 26 games striker!

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly stepping up their attempts to add a striker to their squad ahead of next season.

Chiefs have been struggling in front of goal for a while and look to put an end to that soon.

Chiefs desperate to sign top striker

Coach Nasreddine Nabi made it no secret that he wanted to bring in a striker, when he arrived at Chiefs. He didn’t get his wish in his first window but was able to add two forwards in January. These being Tashreeq Morris and Glody Lilepo. These experienced stars were brought in to supplement a blunt-looking attack which featured Ranga Chivaviro, Ashley du Preez and a young Wandile Duba.

While Morris proved to be a flop, Lilepo ended up being the club’s joint top goal scorer with young Duba with five. That, however, just highlighted the need for a senior striker to shoulder that goal scoring burden. There have been a number of players mentioned in that regard, with DRC international Fiston Mayele one. Mamelodi Sundowns loanee Etiosa Ighodaro has also recently resurfaced as a striker target for Chiefs.

Polievka the latest target

Now according to Sportwire their search has since taken them to Europe with Slovakian attacker Robert Polievka the latest target.

“Sportswire can confirm that Kaizer Chiefs are interested in the Slovakian attacker Robert Polievka. However, for Chiefs to acquire him from MTK Budapest in Hungary, they will need to pay a transfer fee, as his contract expires in 2027. Polievka’s goal-scoring statistics, however, are not particularly appealing for a player Chiefs would rely on for goals. He has so far scored only four goals in 26 matches across all competitions.” Wrote the publication.

Numbers not convincing

The statistics of four goals in 26 games do not make for good reading, especially for a club desperate for goals. But in both Chiefs and Polievka’s defence, strikers from Eastern Europe have often come to the Betway Premiership and thrived. This could be something that Amakhosi scouts let by Tera Maliwa may have had in mind.
