How much rain should Springbok fans expect at Cape Town Stadium?

The Springboks head into a must-win match at Cape Town Stadium this Saturday as they seek redemption against the Wallabies after a shock loss last weekend.

However, the weather forecast suggests that the Springboks – and Wallabies – will need to be prepared for a slippery ball and wet conditions that are likely to also impact the style of play.

According to the ever reliable WindGuru forecaster, there is expected to be some light rainfall from around mid morning, and this drizzle could persist until kick off.

The good news for fans heading to Cape Town Stadium, though, is that they shouldn’t be drenched (only 0.2m/1hr of precipitation is predicted) in the lead up to kick off, and this rain may well abate by half-time.

So as it stands, the prediction is more for damp and drizzly conditions rather than a downpour, but the teams will certainly be keeping an eye on whether that forecast changes at all in the next two days.

Springboks are already preparing to play more conservatively in Cape Town

Rassie Erasmus has made it clear that the Springboks will be more circumspect in their approach this weekend.

“With the six-two (split on the bench), it will probably be more of a grind than a running game,” Erasmus added.

“I think the weather will also not allow us to run around (on attack). We were running and not really being effective last Saturday.”
