What is retired Springbok Steven Kitshoff doing now?

Steven Kitshoff is an absolute icon of Springbok and Stormers rugby, having played in over 100 games for the Cape franchise, while he retired with 83 Test caps to his name.

After suffering a neck injury last year, the powerful prop did everything in his power to make a return to the game, but ultimately he had no option but to follow the advice of medical professionals and announce his retirement in February.

Former Springbok star Steven Kitshoff has been a busy man since retiring

Since his retirement, Kitshoff has been focusing on life after rugby and is actively involved in a few business ventures.

He has a micro-financing business with his brother and has also co-founded a successful beer company called “Bomb Squad” with fellow Springbok Malcolm Marx.

As a co-founder and investor at Pronto Loans, it’s revealed on LinkedIn that the company works towards “empowering small and medium-sized businesses with reliable salary advances, offering employees quick, responsible access to earned wages when they need it”.

Furthermore, Kitshoff has involvement in an investments business related to “industrial and commercial property and business ventures”.

The 33-year-old also appears at speaking engagements and is a co-host on the GameTime podcast.

He’s recently unveiled a venture with Athletic Pursuit as well, which aims to unlock athletic potential and bridge the gap between amateur and professional rugby.

It all speaks to the desire Kitshoff expressed to stay involved in rugby where possible.

“Myself and Malcolm have got Bomb Squad, which is taking off very nicely,” he commented after retiring.

“We have some lekker opportunities in that business but other than that, we’re trying to stay involved with rugby as much I can.

“Either consulting or mentoring or being involved in broadcasting and I would love to stay close to the sport that’s given me so much.”
