The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are set to deliver an electrifying night filled with thrilling performances and star-studded appearances like Sabrina Carpenter.
The event will take place on Sunday, 7 September, at New York’s UBS Arena and will air live on CBS for the first time in its history. It will air alongside MTV and Paramount+ streaming in the US.
SABRINA CARPENTER AND ‘MANCHILD’
Sabrina Carpenter, the American singer and actress, will be among the first performers announced for the show.
Carpenter shines with eight nominations this year. This includes the prestigious Video of the Year for her song Manchild. This song is from her upcoming album Man’s Best Friend.
“It’s an honour to be recognised on such a big stage,” Carpenter shared. “I can’t wait to perform for everyone, including fans from around the world.”
Rising star Sombr will also take to the VMA stage for the first time after receiving nods for Best New Artist and Best Alternative, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
OTHER NOMINATIONS
Alex Warren, another breakout artist at the MTV Video Music Awards, will perform as well. Warren earns nominations in three major categories: Best New Artist, Best Pop, and Song of the Year
His excitement is clear: “The VMAs have always been a dream. To be here and perform means the world to me.”
J Balvin will thrill Latin music lovers by returning to the VMAs to perform his latest hit “Zun Zun” with Justin Quiles and Lenny Tavárez.
He will then join DJ Snake for a live debut of their new collaboration, “Noventa.” DJ Snake makes his VMA debut this year, adding extra excitement to the lineup.
THE MTV VMA AWARDS
The ceremony honours two legendary performers with special awards. Busta Rhymes will receive the Rock the Bells Visionary Award for his cultural impact.
Meanwhile, the VMAs will celebrate Ricky Martin with the Latin Icon Award for his four decades of influence.
Martin last performed at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1999 and will return 26 years later.
LL Cool J will host the event, guiding the audience through a night dominated by heavy hitters like Lady Gaga and Kendrick Lamar.
Lady Gaga leads the nominations with 12, followed closely by Bruno Mars with 11, and Kendrick Lamar with 10.
