Today’s Orlando Pirates transfer wrap looks at both outgoings and potential incoming ahead of the new season.
Paseka Mako leaves Pirates after seven years.
Versatile defender Tshepho Mashiloane joins from Baroka.
Kaizer Chiefs in talks with Paseka Mako
31-year-old full-back Paseka Mako made 26 appearances across all competitions last term for Pirates. The compact left-sided star is much-loved by the fans. Another firm favourite, Deon Hotto, is 34 now and approaching the twilight of his stellar career. Is it foolish, therefore, to let go of Mako, who still has plenty to offer at this level?
Orlando Pirates miss out on Appollis?
In their search for a prolific wide man, Chiefs have reportedly reignited their interest in Polokwane and Bafana star Oswin Appollis. The 23-year-old was in action for South Africa in a 0-0 draw against Tanzania. Appollis is also a target for Pirates.
All you need to know about Mashiloane
What is there to know about 23-year-old Tshepho Mashiloane? Well, the versatile defender can operate at right-back or in central midfield. This will be a considerable boost for the Pirates technical team; although they have a strong squad at their disposal, both full-back positions are relatively weak spots after the release of Thabiso Monyane and Mako. With experience in the second tier, it’s also hoped that he’s ready for a battle.

Will Pirates regret letting go of Mako?
