Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: Castillo and ex-Orlando Pirates signing

Kaizer Chiefs have signed nine players during this transfer market, but will that be enough?

So far, Amakhosi have won their opening three league matches. Although the team has shown good form early in the season, half of the new players are yet to make their debut.

One new signing who has impressed is former Orlando Pirates right-back Thabiso Monyane. The defender has been solid for Amakhosi in the three games this campaign and fans has hailed him as their best signing of the season.

The other players who have been signed are Siphesihle Ndlovu, Paseka Mako, Ethan Chistlett, Flavio Silva, Nkanyiso Shinga, Luke Baartman and Asanele Velebayi.

Kaizer Chiefs have also released close to 10 players

In the past two months, the likes of Yusuf Maart and Edmilson Dove left despite their experience. Njabulo Blom, who was on loan from the Major League Soccer (MLS), was also released after Amakhosi opted not to make his stay permanent.

Another experienced player who left is Venezuelan international Edson Castillo. The South American midfielder spent two seasons in naturena but injury limited his gametime in his last year.

“We are very grateful to Kaizer Chiefs for the opportunity and the time Edson spent with the club. The experience in South Africa, both on and off the pitch, was very positive and helped him grow as a player and as a person,” a representative of Andrade Sports Group told iDiski Times.

Kaizer Chiefs let go of Castillo

“However, as you know, the current situation with the new coach made it difficult for us to continue being part of the project. Now, we believe it’s the right moment to look for a new challenge in Edson’s career.

“We are open to staying in the African market, as we truly believe the experience with Kaizer Chiefs and in South Africa was enriching and highly valuable.”
