Low-cost carrier FlySafair has announced a significant expansion of its domestic flight network, launching two new routes and increasing the frequency of existing services just in time for the upcoming holiday season.
Starting on 1 November 2025, the airline will operate direct flights from Lanseria International Airport to two Eastern Cape destinations:
- King Phalo Airport (East London): six flights per week
- Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (Gqeberha): daily flights
Previously, travellers from Johannesburg could only access these destinations via OR Tambo International Airport.
Fares for the new routes start from R770, and tickets are already available via FlySafair’s website and mobile app.
“We’re thrilled to be adding these new routes to the Eastern Cape from Lanseria,” said Kirby Gordon, Chief Marketing Officer at FlySafair.
“It offers more convenience for holidaymakers and those visiting family this summer.”
Great news for Capetonians
Meanwhile, as previously announced, from 2 October, FlySafair will introduce flights between Cape Town and Hoedspruit’s Eastgate Airport, enhancing access to the central Kruger region and Limpopo’s popular safari destinations.
This route will operate three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays – with prices starting at R1 570.
To complement the expansion, the airline will also increase frequency on its Cape Town to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport route, offering daily flights from October.
Further access
These updates build on FlySafair’s March launch of its Lanseria-George route, providing further access to the Garden Route, including Knysna and Oudtshoorn.
Gordon said the airline’s broader strategy is to connect South Africans with more destinations, while providing affordable and reliable service.
“This expansion is part of our ongoing mission to connect more South Africans to the places and people they love,” he added.
FlySafair’s continued network growth positions the airline as a major player in boosting regional tourism and providing alternatives to OR Tambo for Gauteng-based travellers.
