The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga as the venue for the 2025 MTN 8 final.
The final will be played on Saturday, 13 September 2025 at 18:00.
The last final held at the stadium was the 2024 Nedbank Cup final, which took place in September last year, where Orlando Pirates went against Mamelodi Sundowns.
MBOMBELA STADIUM TO HOST 2025 MTN 8 FINAL
The stadium has proven to be a lucrative spot for Pirates in cup competitions, as the Buccaneers also won the Nedbank Cup Ke Yona in 2011 at the venue.
In the MTN 8 semi-finals this year, the Soweto giants beat Mamelodi Sundowns by winning 4-1 in penalty shootouts after drawing 1-1.
Sipho Chaine managed to save three penalties, becoming the saviour of the day for Orlando Pirates.
Lebo Mothiba managed to score one penalty for the Chloorkop side.
On the other hand, Stellenbosch FC played a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United and won by a 3-1 aggregate.
The prize money for this year’s MTN 8 has been increased from R8 million to R10 million.
Each team that participated in the MTN8 tournament will each receive a R1 million participation fee, according to Gauteng news.
PSL WARNS AGAINST CIRCULATING FAKE NEWS REGARDING MTN 8 FINAL VENUE
The PSL has warned against circulating fake news regarding the venue for the MTN 8 final.
The fake news claimed that the final will be hosted at Moses Mabhida Stadium while PSL had not confirmed the venue at the time.
“The PSL strongly cautions media outlets against publishing unverified information, as such conduct misleads the public and undermines the integrity of the game,” PSL mentioned in a statement.
Do you think Orlando Pirates will win the MTN 8 cup for the fourth time consecutively?
