Surged forward
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Zenobia Sedeman, the accident happened when a driver started his vehicle and noticed the child in front of the car.
The vehicle allegedly surged forward as the driver attempted to stop, possibly due to a stuck accelerator cable, and collided with another parked car.
The child became trapped under the moving vehicle and was pulled out by people on the scene.
Despite their efforts, he was declared dead on site.
Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Sergeant Jacko Petersen at 079 894 0188.
