Kaizer Chiefs have enjoyed a decent start to 2025/2026, winning three and drawing one game from the opening four matches:
- 2-0 over Stellenbosch FC
- 1-0 over Polokwane City
- 1-0 over Richards Bay FC
- 0-0 with Mamelodi Sundowns
Former Amakhosi defender Isaac Mabotsa thinks this could be the start of something special for the Soweto giants.
KAIZER CHIEFS READY TO CHASE THE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP TITLE
Early results for Kaizer Chiefs
“The team is improving; for me, it’s still early days, but it’s a good start,” Mabotsa told Kick Off. Even though Kaizer Chiefs aren’t yet playing the style they aspire to, the results are piling up, and that’s what builds confidence. “Things are moving in the right direction,” he added.
Talent and squad depth
Mabotsa added to say Kaizer Chiefs have assembled an improved squad, even though some new signings have yet to feature.
“I’m pleased with the squad. So far, so good. You can see how happy the supporters are,” he said.
“With young talent blending with experienced heads, Kaizer Chiefs look like a side ready to mount a serious title challenge.
Amakhosi for the league title
“As with any major club, Chiefs target the league title every season,” Mabotsa explained. “We have done our building, and now it’s time to deliver.”
“Let’s assess them after 10 games. But for now, fans have plenty to cheer about.
R16 MILLION OFFER
Betway Premiership giants Kaizer Chiefs could return to the Limpopo Province. Amakhosi have been offered a tasty incentive by the Polokwane Municipality.
Kaizer Chiefs could be packing their bags for Polokwane more often, after the local municipality tabled a R16 million deal to host six of their matches at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The offer to Amakhosi is a two-season arrangement that would see them play three home games during this Betway Premiership campaign and another three in 2026.
Each game is expected to pull thousands of Kaizer Chiefs fans into the city, filling up the 45,000-seater stadium that was built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
