Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye has given his honest opinion of Orlando Pirates loanee and returnees Monnapule Saleng.
Saleng turned heads while at Orbit some years ago before Pirates signed him and loaned him to Swallows FC.
He soon became a top player for the Buccaneers until he was frozen out in early December 2024.
Pirates then decided to loan him out to Orbit College at the start of the season to give him a career lifeline.
However, Makhoye doesn’t think Saleng has, so far, lived up to the expected expectations since rejoining Orbit.
In his own words, Makhoye feels Orbit play better when Saleng is not on the pitch, saying the inexperienced ones rely on him to carry the team when he plays.
And the coach admitted that those are the things the entire technical team needs to look at and decide on going forward.

SALENG ISN’T GIVING HIS ALL AT ORBIT – MAKHOYE
“So far, I think he is not giving us what we expected from him as a big player, a player that comes with this big name,” said Makhoye on Metro FM.
“So, those are the things that we need to sit down and check as a team to say, ‘is he really affecting the team? Are we playing better when he is on the team or when he is not on the team?’
“So, those are things we need to look at. Those are the things that we need to assess in these two weeks.
“We had a conversation with him also to say, ‘you need to up your game because we played a top game on Tuesday, you came back to the team, and we became a different team – negatively, because on Tuesday everybody was working, everybody could run’.
“Now the weight is on him, when he is not [playing] everyone is putting that 110%, but when he is in the field, the players tend to say, ‘we rely on you [Saleng] to lead us’,” added Makhoye.
