The Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, Thamsanqa Ntuli, has praised members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) for turning the tide on crime in the province.
This follows an incident where five suspects were gunned down in KwaZulu-Natal after a shoot-out with police.
The Premier commended the swift action by SAPS, describing the work of law enforcement officers as excellent.
POLICE ON COURSE TO RECLAIM KZN
Speaking in his capacity as the executive responsible for Community Safety and Liaison in KZN, Ntuli said police are on track to reducing crime. He emphasised that law enforcement is committed to reclaiming communities from criminal elements.
“We will do everything to reclaim our communities from the grip of criminal elements, inch by inch, until our province is totally free of crime. I wish to assure all our communities that we are heightening our crime prevention and detection strategies in the province, thereby narrowing the ground for criminals to operate,” said Ntuli.
COMMUNITY URGED TO PARTNER WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT
The Premier also praised the diligence and efficiency of law enforcement officers who are working tirelessly to restore law and order in the province. Ntuli further urged community members to cooperate with police by providing information that will lead to the apprehension of criminals.
“To eradicate crime, we all have to work together – the public, private security, business and all stakeholders. Let us also be active in our communities by joining voluntary crime prevention structures,” added Premier Ntuli.
