Kimberley business robbery crackdown: Police nab three suspects

Kimberley Police in the Northern Cape arrested three suspects for business robbery in Beaconsfield.

The suspects, aged 27, 29 and 38, allegedly robbed a clothing store in Main Road, Beconsfield, on 13 September 2025.

POLICE POUNCE ON KIMBERLEY ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN GALESHEWE

According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the three men allegedly threatened staff, demanded cash, and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Kimberley Police members acted on the information about the business robbery.

They traced the suspects to Galeshewe, where they were spotted in their blue Kia getaway car.

STOLEN MONEY, WEAPONS RECOVERED IN BEACONSFIELD ROBBERY BUST

As a result of the members’ heightened search, they found the suspects at a house belonging to a 49-year-old man, trying to destroy evidence.

Officers searched the house and recovered the suspected stolen money, two knives, a ball gun, and two live rounds of ammunition.

The police arrested the suspects and the homeowner for possessing suspected stolen property.

Officers also confiscated the vehicle suspected of being used during the commission of the crime.

SUSPECTS TO FACE KIMBERLEY MAGISTRATE’S COURT

The police spokesperson, Sergeant Dikeledi Gopane, confirmed that the suspects will remain in police custody.

They will appear in the Kimberley Magistrate’s Court soon.

IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT: OPERATION SHANELA NABS 13 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IN MPUMALANGA

Over 800 kilometres away, the police in Mpumalanga arrested 13 suspects for contravening the Immigration Act of South Africa.

The arrest took place during the Elanzeni Operation Shanela on 12 September 2025.

The police arrested the suspects in Graskop Road near Bushbuckridge during a stop-and-search operation.

Officers stopped the suspects only to find out that they did not have valid documentation to be in the country.

The police spokesperson, Captain Mpho Nonyane-Mpe, reported that the suspects will appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on 15 September 2025.
