DETAILS | Welcome the Springbok Women back to South Africa

The Springbok Women will arrive back in South Africa on six different flights on Tuesday and Wednesday from the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England, where they played in the quarter-finals for the first time.

From their arrival in Johannesburg, the players and management will depart to their home destinations.

Two groups will arrive at approximately 07:00 and 09:35 at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday morning, and a group will arrive at approximately 14:30 at Cape Town International Airport.

A media conference with Swys de Bruin (coach), Nolusindiso Booi (captain) and two Western Cape-based players will be held at the media centre of the Cape Town International Airport at 15:00 on Tuesday, 16 September.

Wednesday’s flights are scheduled to arrive in Johannesburg at 07:00, 09:35 and 10:20.

Almighty scare

The Springbok Women gave New Zealand an almighty scare before succumbing to a 46-17 defeat to the defending champions in their Women’s Rugby World Cup quarter-final in Exeter on Saturday.

The South Africans, who were playing in their first RWC playoff, can hold their heads high though – after achieving their aim of reaching the quarter-finals, they stayed in the fight against a classy Kiwi team and gave it their all until the very end.

In their pool stage matches, the Springbok Women beat Brazil and Italy (for the first time ever), and lost to France.
