Princess Charlene promotes animal protection in Monaco

Princess Charlene of Monaco launched a new charitable book project, It’s A Dog’s Life Monaco, in support of animal welfare.

The launch took place on Monday, 15 September, at the terrace of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation in Monaco. It drew in close to 300 guests.

The book, created by photographer and author Jessica Fry, features over 350 portraits of dogs residing in the Principality. Among these are images of the Princely Family’s own pets, according to New My Royals.

The project pays tribute to the Monegasques’ bond with their animals while raising vital funds for the Monaco Society for the Protection of Animals (SPA), which Princess Charlene chairs.

“This book celebrates our shared love for dogs,” Fry told attendees. “More than 350 photos tell unique stories, and together we are supporting a cause that matters deeply.”

PRINCESS CHARLENE’S STYLE DETAILS

Princess Charlene attended the event wearing a beige double silk Armani ensemble. She stood alongside Camille Gottlieb, her niece and SPA Secretary General, as well as local dignitaries.

Attendees walked the red carpet with dogs from the SPA, capturing the evening’s spirit of solidarity. Books were sold at €150 (about R2,950), with every rand going directly to the SPA.

Guests lined up to purchase copies, which were packaged in tote bags bearing the SPA’s emblem. Proceeds will support dogs awaiting new homes, according to the Monaco Tribune.

Princess Charlene, born in Bulawayo and raised in Benoni, has often spoken of her passion for animal welfare.

She continues to use her platform in Monaco to highlight the importance of protecting vulnerable animals, an issue shared by shelters across South Africa.

A DOG IN NEED

As Nancy Heslin of Carob Tree Publishing said, “This project shows the power of community. Every portrait, every purchase, makes a difference.”

With online sales open worldwide, South African supporters can also contribute.

By ordering a copy, they not only receive a striking piece of photographic art but also help provide a second chance for a dog in need.
