City Power Johannesburg has implemented a planned power outage that will affect 20 suburbs on Saturday, 20 September 2025.
The outage will occur at Industria Substation from 9:00 to 17:00.
“As the supply may be restored at any time, customers are urged to always treat their electricity supply points as live,” mentioned City Power.

ESKOM PARTNERS WITH ELECTRIC CAR COMPANY
Eskom partnered with BYD Auto South Africa on Tuesday, 16 September 2025, to support the launch of the company’s Dolphin Surf.
The Dolphin Surf is a compact, affordable, all-electric vehicle (EV) that will greatly facilitate the country’s transition to sustainable transport.
Acting Group Executive for Distribution Agnes Mlambo mentioned that they are ready to introduce accessible charging infrastructure in South Africa.
“Having successfully rolled out EVs within our fleet on 9 September 2025, we are ready to enable wider adoption by bringing practical and accessible charging infrastructure in South Africa,” Mlambo said.
