Kaizer Chiefs update: Two new signings

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has finally spoken about the absence of two new recruits, Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga, who are yet to kick a ball for Amakhosi this season.

The pair remains unused with six matches into the 2025/26 Betway Premiership.

Chislett arrived from Port Vale FC in the English second division, while Shinga moved from the Portuguese second-tier club FC Alverca. Nabi insists both players are ready; they just have to wait for their turn to don the Amakhosi jersey.

After the tough loss to Sekhukhune, Nabi said both players are fit and insisted their turn to step onto the pitch will come soon.

“It’s true that they [Chislett and Shinga] are part of the squad, we have a lot of players, and when their turn to play comes, they will play,” Nabi told the media at FNB Stadium.

Up to this point, Kaizer Chiefs have leaned on Bradley Cross and Paseko Mako at left-back ahead of Shinga. Cross held down the position in the opening three clashes against Stellenbosch FC, Polokwane City and Richards Bay FC, before Mako stepped in to carry the role through the next run of fixtures against Mamelodi Sundowns, Golden Arrows and Sekhukhune United.

The queue for the number three position also includes Happy Mashiane and Kabelo Nkgwesa.

For Chislett, he has been observing from the sidelines as Mduduzi Shabalala and Gaston Sirino continue to rotate in the attacking midfield role. Meanwhile, fellow new signing Luke Baartman is gearing up to challenge for the same spot once his transfer saga with former club Cape Town Spurs is resolved.
