Amazon South Africa has announced the launch of its Shop Mzansi Heritage Month pop-up stores in both Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The pop-up experiences will showcase locally made products from South African entrepreneurs, allowing customers to engage directly with sellers.
South African shoppers will also have the opportunity to try out products and learn more about the businesses behind them.
Amazon gives South African small businesses a platform
Shop Mzansi, launched shortly after the debut of Amazon.co.za, is a dedicated storefront featuring South African products. The initiative, Amazon said, reinforces its commitment to supporting small businesses in the country.
“Heritage Month provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate the incredible creativity, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit of South African entrepreneurs,” said Robert Koen, Managing Director of Amazon Sub-Saharan Africa.
Event dates and locations
The Shop Mzansi pop-up stores will run at two major malls this September:
- Johannesburg: Mall of Africa — 18–21 September
- Cape Town: Tyger Valley Centre — 24–28 September
Each location will host ten selected Shop Mzansi sellers across a variety of product categories.
Interactive occasions
The spaces will also feature product demonstrations, seller storytelling, and promotional elements such as app download incentives and special offers for first-time Amazon customers.
“We’re excited to bring the Shop Mzansi experience to life in these physical spaces,” Mpho Modise, Head of Small Business for Amazon South Africa, said.
“These pop-ups create an opportunity for customers to meet the people behind the products and build stronger connections with local businesses.” Modise added.
