ITHUBA shakes up Lotto – and introduces new Daily Lotto Plus draw

ITHUBA, operators of the national lottery in South Africa, have announced a new era of bigger jackpots, improved odds, and more winners – all without any increase in ticket prices.

For the first time since 2017, South Africa’s most iconic game, LOTTO, is getting a major upgrade.

Fresh twist

From Sunday, 21 September 2025, South Africans will have more numbers to choose from as Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, and Lotto Plus 2 expand their number range from 1-52 to 1-58.

This fresh twist not only adds excitement to every draw, but also unlocks bigger jackpots, better odds, and more winners, transforming the playing experience for millions across the country.

The prize pay-out for Lotto will rise from 45% to 48%, putting more money back into the hands of players.

At the same time, the overall odds of winning any prize will improve dramatically, moving from 1 in 38.2 to 1 in 9.61 – giving players four times more chances to walk away a winner and making Lotto more rewarding than ever before.

Double your chances

But that’s not all.

Alongside these enhancements, ITHUBA has launched Daily Lotto Plus, the first extension of the popular Daily Lotto game since its introduction in 2019.

For R1.50 more, players can now double their chances of winning every single day, creating two jackpots
daily and cementing Daily Lotto as one of the most exciting and rewarding games in the Lottery’s history.

Both the expanded Lotto games and Daily Lott Plus will be available across all channels where national lottery tickets are sold, including in-store, online, and through banking platforms.

“Lotto and Daily Lotto have long been at the heart of the national lottery, and we are proud to enhance these games with even greater value for our players,” said Charmaine Mabuza, CEO of ITHUBA.

“With bigger jackpots, improved chances of winning, and the introduction of Daily Lotto Plus, we are delivering more excitement without increasing the cost to play.

“At the same time, every ticket continues to contribute to good causes through the National Lotteries Distribution Trust Fund, ensuring the Lottery remains both rewarding and impactful for South Africa,” Mabuza added.

Bold chapter

Since taking over the licence in 2015, ITHUBA has reinvigorated the national lottery through innovation, localisation, and player-first initiatives.

The introduction of Daily Lotto Plus and the transformation of Lotto mark the next bold chapter in this journey, keeping the Lottery fresh, exciting, and impactful for millions of South Africans.

These developments mark another step in ITHUBA’s journey to keep the national lottery fresh, relevant, and rewarding, ensuring it continues to change lives every day.
