Kaizer Chiefs have added several new faces to their playing squad. However, there’s still a mystery surrounding the return of another.
Rushwin Dortley hasn’t played a competitive match for Chiefs since sustaining a serious injury in March.
Worryingly, it’s been a while since the club provided concrete information on his situation.

Kaizer Chiefs star Dortley is still recovering
The technical team will need to be cautious when they reintroduce 23-year-old Rushwin Dortley to the fold after such a lengthy layoff, but it’s undoubtedly a huge plus to see him on the comeback trail.
“Rushwin Dortley is running around a pitch, which is nearly empty – well, except for physiotherapist Phumzile Ngobese, who is monitoring the defender’s run closely,” Amakhosi announced on 15 July.
That update came two months ago, and Dortley is nowhere to be seen so far in 2025-2026, but typically, with knee surgeries, players aren’t expected back within six months. Hopefully, Dortley is on track to be back in October.
“One has to be strong mentally, as you want to play, but you can’t. It’s not easy, but I do know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.” Dortley told the club’s official website in July.
Zwane to headline more Kaizer Chiefs exits before deadline day?
Mainly a benchwarmer last season, fan favourite 23-year-old Zwane is nowhere to be seen this campaign, not even making a matchday squad so far. We all know about his class and prowess on the ball, but doubts remain over his ability to do his defensive duties off the ball. This shortcoming could put paid to his Chiefs career before it truly begins. Kaizer Motaung Junior has hinted at further exits.
