United States President Donald Trump told the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that the carbon footprint is a “hoax.”
While delivering his speech at the high-level General Debate in New York, Trump scoffed at climate change.
Each world leader or representative is given a voluntary 15 minute time period to deliver their speech – Trump’s address crossed the 50-minute mark.
TRUMP BLASTS OBAMA OVER CARBON FOOTPRINT
The US president claimed that the carbon footprint was created “by people with evil intentions” and that they are on a “path of total destruction.” He used the opportunity to cast aspersions on former US President Barack Obama.
“I remember hearing about the carbon footprint and then President Obama would get into Air Force One, a massive Boeing 747 – and not a new one, an old one with old engines that spew everything into the atmosphere. He talked about the carbon footprint we must reduce, and then he’d fly from Washington to Hawaii to play a round of golf, and then he’d get back onto that big beautiful plane and talk again about global warming and the carbon footprint,” said Trump.

The US president also described the carbon footprint as a “con job”, saying China and other countries “thriving around China” produce more carbon dioxide than developed nations. Trump also encouraged other nations to get away from the “green energy scam”.
He further claimed that “radicalised environmentalists” plan to kill cows in the US.
“We don’t want cows anymore. I guess they want to kill all the cows,” said Trump.
He also mocked renewable energy, saying “windmills are pathetic.”
