The passenger was flying with his sister and niece – they each paid an extra €30 for the premium seats.

Writing on the Dull Men’s Fun Club Facebook page, he explained: “This seemed worth it for a 4-hour flight… until a dad and his two kids decided that the emergency door window right next to us was the most fascinating thing they’d ever seen.”

He went on to tell that the family proceeded to stand their, taking up the extra legroom space, for the duration of the flight.

The furious passenger wrote: “They stood there almost the entire flight, leaning over us, pointing, chatting loudly and completely blocking the space we paid extra for.”

He told that he repeatedly asked the flight attendant to get them to move, however, the family just kept coming back.

In his post, the passenger concluded: “Sometimes I wish Europe was as strict as the US with the no fly lists.”

His Facebook post was accompanied by a picture of the family stood in front of his seats.

It quickly gained a lot of traction on the social media site, gaining over 500 reactions and 200 comments.

Users were quick to share their thoughts on the matter.

One wrote: “I’d have let the kiddies have a couple of looks out the window then after that kicked up a complete stink.”

Another chimed in: “I would have asked them to move or get the attendant to move them.

“Children should not be loitering by an emergency exit.”

While one user added: “This really annoys me on flights – yes, I get people need to stretch their legs, but that shouldn’t be at the cost of invading other passengers space.”

Other users were quick to share their own travel horror stories in the comment section.

One explained: “We’ve had this before. We paid for the extra leg room on a long haul flight.

“Seats middle row, continuously has other passengers using it as a shortcut from side to the other.”

In a bid to block off the path, the passenger used her luggage to create a barrier.

She added: “One passenger attempted to pass through and failed by tripping to everyone’s amusement, then nobody else dared to pass through.”

Another disgruntled user wrote: “I paid £400 for extra legroom in two seats from Manchester to New York only to find the space was going to be the holding queue for the toilets.”

Plane etiquette

IF you’re planning on going away any time soon, you’ll need to pay attention to the following unwritten plane etiquette rules…

RECLINING SEAT: Podcast host and etiquette expert Nick Leighton explained that you shouldn’t recline your seat if the passenger behind you is working on their laptop.

He said: “Nobody likes their laptop snapped in half.”

Before you recline your seat, it’s best to check to see what the passenger behind you is doing.

If they are on a laptop, ask before you move your seat back.

FEET: flight attendant told The Sun: “Your boarding card tells you a number and a letter, this will be the reserved seat that you have paid for.

“Your feet, which are attached to your body, should do their best to reside within this space and stay far away from anyone else.

“If you do insist on stretching out, please make sure your feet are covered up.”

CHAT: TV travel expert Samantha Brown explained that conversations from strangers aren’t welcome, suggesting that others shouldn’t expect a chat.

She added: “I’m not a talker. Plane time is me time.”
