Ryanair reveals new date that printed boarding passes will be BANNED from all flights

PASSENGERS flying with Ryanair will soon have to use a digital boarding pass as the airline introduces a strict new ban.

Travellers will no longer be able to use printed boarding passes with the airline from November.

Ryanair has confirmed it will move using digital boarding passes from November 12.

The original date had been November 3, 2025, but it has been pushed back by just over a week.

In a statement, Ryanair said the reason for the date change was to “ensure a seamless transition for customers in the less busy travel period after the mid-term break.”

The airline added: “Ryanair’s move to 100 per cent digital boarding passes will mean a faster, smarter, and greener travel experience.”

From this date, passengers flying with Ryanair will instead need to use a digital boarding pass generated in their ‘myRyanair’ app during check-in to board their Ryanair flight.

According to Ryanair, the change is expected to save 300 tonnes of paper, even though 90 per cent of passengers already show up with passes on their smartphones.

Check-in desks will not offer printing and Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary has claimed that if a customer’s battery dies or they lose their phone, staff will still be able to allow them onto a flight.

If this does happen though, travellers should make sure to check in online no later than two hours before getting to the airport.

There are still exceptions to the rule though as some airports will only accept printed passes.

Another airport where paper boarding passes are needed is Tirana airport in Albania, but this is set to change in March 2026.

The ‘myRyanair’ app has other features too that passengers can use now.

Passengers with the airline can go onto the app to use the ‘order to seat’ feature which, as its name relays, means you can order food and drinks from your phone straight to your seat.

The app also has a feature to track live flight information for real-time updates on boarding, gate locations and delays.

Other features include direct disruption updates, and live notifications from Ryanair’s Operations Centre during disruption.
