Europe’s best players travel across the Atlantic as the reigning champions, having won two years ago in Rome, Italy.
An away side has lifted the prestigious trophy just twice this century and both times by Team Europe in 2004 and 2012.
Who has won more Ryder Cups, Europe or the US?
The first ever Ryder Cup took place in 1927 between the United States and Great Britain.
The British team expanded to include the whole of Europe from 1979.
Since the competition began, including wins from the British only era, Team USA have been crowned champions more times.
The Americans have 27 Ryder Cups to their name.
In comparison, Great Britain/Team Europe trail behind on just 15 victories.
Before 1979, they had won the competition just three times in 22 attempts.
