‘They’ve got to be frightened of you’ – Phil Taylor tells Luke Littler he needs to develop scary aura like ‘The Power’

PHIL TAYLOR has told Luke Littler he needs the FEAR FACTOR to scare his rivals and become a winning machine.

The 16-time world champion spent two decades at the top of the sport and his “aura” was often spoken about beating players before they’d even got on stage.

Taylor now insists that current world supremo “The Nuke” must develop his own mental dominance on his oche rivals.

The darts legend told talkSPORT: “You’ve got to have that name about you where they’re a bit frightened of you.

“People [are] frightened of you because you’re consistent, which seems to be intimidating people at the moment.

“Young Luke, he’s very, very good and the thing is with him, he doesn’t care what people think or say.

“[He’s] Very level headed and he’s not money orientated. I think it’s very important when you’re that age to have good people behind you. His mum and dad are lovely.”

But Taylor remains undecided on whether Littler can go on and match or beat his incredible 16 world championship titles.

He added: “I think it depends on his work ethic really because it’s going to get harder.

“He’s going to get older and he’s going to have a family soon and things like that.”

Littler will be aiming to scoop £1million by becoming the first player since Gary Anderson in 2016 to successfully defend their world title.

It would add to victories in the World Matchplay and UK Open this year to take his PDC titles tally to 17 in less than two years as a professional.

But before then there are still more major titles to win including the World Grand Prix, which starts on October 6 in Leicester.
