However, with energy bills set to rise again from October 1st. turning the heating on is not an option for many Brits.

There are many things you can do to keep yourself warm without the heating, from wearing extra layers, to wrapping yourself up in a blanket.

However, if you’re keen to make your home more insulated, Amazon’s 99p draft excluder is the perfect solution.

The bargain buy perfectly seals gaps in your doors and windows, and prevents warm air from escaping.

By trapping heat inside your house, your home will feel warmer, meaning you won’t have to put the heating on.

All you need to do is cut the tape down to size, peel of the back, and attach it to your chosen surface.

The tape is suitable for sealing gaps between 3.5 and 5.5mm, and comes in three colours, brown, black and white, to match your home’s design.

Plus, the handy tape also reduces noise and dust, making it an extremely versatile product.

Shoppers have been raving about the tape on the Amazon website, with many hailing the budget buy’s ability to prevent drafts.

One person said: “I bought the teeppo Draft Excluder for the door leading to the rear of my property, as there was a constant cold draft sneaking through, making the room uncomfortably chilly.

“Since installing this, I can confidently say: cold air shall not pass!”

A second person said: “Does exactly what it says, works perfectly.

“Used it on an old door to seal up the drafts and hey presto, no more gales coming in the shut door…”

A third person added: “I purchased this white self-adhesive draught excluder to combat the chilly drafts seeping into my home during the winter months, and I’m extremely pleased with the results!

5 ways to keep your house warm in winter

Property expert Joshua Houston shared his tips.

1. Curtains

“Windows are a common place for the outside cold to get into your home, this is because of small gaps that can let in air so always close your curtains as soon as it gets dark,” he said.

This simple method gives you an extra layer of warmth as it can provide a kind of “insulation” between your window and curtain.

2. Rugs

“Your floor is another area of your home where heat can be lost and can make your home feel chilly,” he continued. “You might notice on cold days, that your floor is not nice to walk on due to it freezing your feet.

“Add rugs to areas that don’t already have a carpet, this provides a layer of insulation between your bare floor and the room above.”

3. Check your insulation

Check your pipes, loft space, crawlspaces and underneath floorboards.

“Loose-fill insulation is very good for this, and is a more affordable type of insulation, with a big bag being able to be picked up for around £30,” Joshua explained.

4. Keep your internal doors closed

“Household members often gather in one room in the evening, and this is usually either the kitchen or living room,” Joshua said.

“This means you only have to heat a small area of your home, and closing the doors keeps the heat in and the cold out.”

5. Block drafts

Don’t forget to check cat flaps, chimneys and letterboxes, as they can let in cold air if they aren’t secure.

“Since installing it, I’ve noticed a significant decrease in the amount of cold air infiltrating my living space.”
