MORRISONS has launched its first ever premium deal, and it’s one of the cheapest on the market.

Customers can now pick up a starter, main, side and desert for a tenner from the supermarket’s The Best range.

The offer launched in stores and online this week, and is £5 cheaper than equivalent offers at Sainsbury’s and Tesco.

Morrisons customers hoping to take advantage will have to be quick though, as the offer only runs until the October 5.

The supermarket is offering a choice of starters, including Scottish mussels in red wine & chorizo sauce, tempura king prawns or a goats cheese, cheddar and caramelised onion tart.

The nine main options include ranch steak, chicken bacon & leek pie and spinach & ricotta cannelloni.

All of which can be accompanied by triple cooked chunky chips, green veg medley or a garlic and herb flatbread.

To finish off the meal, you can choose either a chocolate & cherry panna cotta, treacle tart or Sicilian lemon cheesecake.

The premium deal is the first time that Morrison’s has launched an offer outside of its normal Valentine’s Day dine-in-for-two offer for £15.

Amy Austin, fresh food commercial director at Morrisons, said: “As we move into autumn and daily life starts to get busy again, we know customers are looking for simple ways to enjoy high-quality meals at home.

“For those craving something indulgent and comforting as the cold nights draw in, our £10 The Best Dine-In Meal Deal offers great value and flavour.”

Meal deal price rises

Customers fumed at the increased price of Sainsbury’s in-dine-meal deal in August.

The deal for two people, including a main, side, desert and drink, rose to £15 up from £12 a week ago.

Tesco also increased there prices, whilst Waitrose and M&S, charge £15 for their respective offers.

Customers complained saying that a 25% hike in meal deal prices does not mirror inflation.

In a statement released at the time, the supermarket defended the decision saying: “With thousands of delicious possible combinations to choose from, customers can continue to save on dining out for two by selecting their favourite main, side, dessert and drink from our Taste the Difference range for £15. “

Tesco and Waitrose said that the price of there offers reflected the quality of the product.

How to save cash on your food shop

Money saving experts at HSBC UK have revealed their top tips to saving cash on your food shop.

1. Set a budget
Creating a budget will help to stretch your budget. Start by working out how much you spent on food over the last three months, then each month you get paid, set aside a certain amount for food.

2. Plan your meals
Make a list of your main meals for the coming week, including the ingredients you need, and stick to it. Don’t get drawn into offers for things that you don’t need. If you already have some food leftover from the week before, try to see what you can do with that first.

3. Think about when and where you shop
It’s best to shop on a full stomach so you don’t get tempted. Shopping less often can help you to think about what you buy and it may help you to stick to your budget.

4. Go online
Shopping online is a good and easy way to manage your budget. It can also help to track expenses, whilst also preventing impulse buys.
