What is the Ryder Cup’s record victory?
When the Ryder Cup began in 1927, it was played between the US and Great Britain.
The Brits expanded to include Ireland in 1973 and then Europe from 1979.
The biggest win of all-time came in 1967 when Team USA won 23.5-8.5.
Just four years earlier, the Americans eased to a 23-9 win in the second biggest victory.
Since the rest of Europe joined Great Britain, the largest win came in 2021 at Whistling Straits when Team USA dismantled their rivals 19-9.
What is the Ryder Cup’s biggest winning margin in a match?
In foursomes, which see two players from each team play alternative shots, the biggest win since 18-hole matches begun in 1961 came at the last Ryder Cup.

In singles matches, America’s Tom Kite beating Howard Clark 8&7 in 1981 is the biggest win.

The Ryder Cup is back THIS WEEK as Team Europe hope to defend their crown on American soil
Luke Donald‘s team has travelled to New York ahead of the big start on Friday.
Europe has dominated the prestigious competition in the 21st century, winning eight of the 11 meetings since 2002.
But only two of those wins have come in the United States, with Team USA winning both the 2021 and 2016 competitions.
In fact, Team Europe has only won one of the four Ryder Cups held in the US – 2012 – since their win there in 2004 and Team USA enter as the odds-on bookies’ favourites.

How does Ryder Cup scoring work?
There is a total of 28 points on offer across the Ryder Cup.
Each victory is worth a point and a draw is a half.
That means 14.5 is enough to take home the trophy.
If it finishes 14-14, then it is a draw with no tiebreak match and the current holders retain the title.
The scoring system of a round shows the winning margin.
A 4&2 win means they were leading by four holes with two left to play.
If a match is to be decided on the final 18th hole, the result is 1up or 2up, depending on how many holes they won by.
Ties go down as A/S (all square).
