A WOMAN has tragically died after she was reportedly hit by a drug driver on a UK motorway.
Joanne Gregory, 59, was rushed to hospital when her black Volvo XC40 collided with a black Mercedes C250 on the A1 near Wetherby, West Yorkshire on September 19.
Despite the efforts of hospital staff, the victim passed away during the early hours on Tuesday morning.
In a statement, her family described her as a “loving mother, wife, and sister, and a caring friend”.
They added: “Her kindness and warmth touched so many lives. We are devastated by her loss, and her absence will leave a lasting hole in our hearts and lives forever.”
A 59-year-old woman, who was in the Volvo’s passenger seat, remains in hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 44-year-old man, was arrested by cops on suspicion of drug driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
