Chairman Kevin Nagle has confirmed that a deal has been made for the club to take “full operational control” of the ground.

It has been stated that the Terriers are now the sole shareholders of the venue.

In a statement, the club has insisted that plans can now be implemented to improve the “sporting and entertainment landmark”.

Nagle has insisted that the major purchase has secured the club’s future for the next THREE CENTURIES.

He said: “Following extensive discussions, we are delighted to have secured full operational control of our home at the Accu Stadium.

“We understand deeply the significance of the venue as both a sporting and entertainment destination.

“(We) look forward to our ongoing investment in the stadium providing the town and our local community increased choice and opportunity in both the short and long term.

“Huddersfield Town has a proud 117-year history within the town.

“We are proud to have secured the next 300 years of our future here, too.”

The Huddersfield Giants will continue to use the stadium in the 2026 season.

Owner and chairman Ken Davy said: “This is good news after such a long time to finally get this agreement sorted to the benefit of all three parties.

“We will remain of course as I have already said at the Accu Stadium in the 2026 season.”

The Terriers moved into the ground back in 1994 after moving out of previous home Leeds Road.

The club currently sits in 5th place in League One after a 10th-place finish last term.

It was not long ago that the West Yorkshire side graced the Premier League.

Under the guidance of David Wagner, the club reached the top tier for the 2017/18 season and survived.

However, they were relegated back to the Championship the following season.

They are now managed by former Manchester United back-up goalkeeper Lee Grant.
