UNANSWERED questions still remain six years after a man was beaten to death with a golf club in a vicious broad daylight attack.

The person responsible for the brutal attack is still on the run and the victim’s sister says there are people out there who know who did it.

Terence Dunn – known as Terry – was assaulted on June 18, 2019 in Norris Green, Liverpool, leaving him with horrific and eventually fatal injuries.

The 49-year-old had left his home that afternoon to make a trip to the bank but was being followed.

Terry was then pounced upon by the vicious thug who beat him with a golf club.

The 49-year-old survived the attack but required surgery – his spleen was ruptured and injuries to his leg left him needing crutches.

According to the Echo, his injuries were so severe that doctors thought it was a stabbing but they later discovered his ribcage had been pierced by his broken arm.

Terry was in Aintree Hospital for three months and he later died after suffering a fatal heart attack linked to the attack.

His sister Sarah, 47, spoke to the Echo on the sixth anniversary of his death and said there are people who know who unleashed the brutal assault on her brother.

She said that she couldn’t grieve until those responsible were “brought to justice” and has desperately urged Terence’s killer or anyone who may know them to come forward.

“People out there know who did it and they’re not coming forward,” she said.

Sarah added that Terence was “idolised” by her children and said it was “evil” that his attacker was loose on the streets.

“The stigma of being a ‘grass’, it’s just a word, they don’t see the everyday battle and suffering that the families go through,” she said.

At the time of the attack, the suspect was challenged by a member of the public before they fled the scene.

He is described as white, 5ft 7in, in his 20s and wearing dark clothing with a hood up – his motive remains unclear.

Since the attack, three men were arrested on suspicion of murder and a 54-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder but to date, nobody has been charged.

Sarah claims that she’s been provided the name of the attacker but said police are lacking eyewitnesses that connect the suspect to the attack.

A friend of Terry told ITV in 2019 that they had tried to save his life after suffering a heart attack at his flat, saying he was “lying there but not moving”.

“I dragged him onto the floor and gave him CPR while I was on the phone to the ambulance. It felt like an hour for them to come, but it was only 10 minutes,” he said.

“Paramedics tried to revive him for another 20 minutes but he was pronounced dead at his flat.”

Police previously issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to as he may have vital information with anyone who recognises him urged to get in touch with Merseyside Police.

They also want to speak to a man that they think may have passed a man carrying a golf club.

Howard Rubbery, Head of Merseyside Police’s Serious Crime Review Unit said: “Terry was a well-known and liked member of the Norris Green community, but for some reason he was specifically targeted and subjected to a brutal assault.

“He never recovered from his injuries and died just a few months later.

“We remain determined to find the person responsible for Terry’s death and getting justice for Terry’s death and I would urge anyone living in or around the Norris Green community who has information which could assist our investigation to get in touch.”
