Two bidders “slogged it out” to land the wraparound cream vinyl padded drink server from the Trotters’ flat.
It was expected to make just £600 but our story last week triggered a wave of interest and more than 200 people made bids.
The drama mirrored the final series episode where Del (David Jason) and Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) became millionaires by selling a rare pocket watch for £6.2million at Sotheby’s.
As the hammer came down, shocked auctioneer Rachel Holland said: “Unbelievable. I have to take a breath.”
Antiques Roadshow expert Will Farmer, co-director of Fieldings in Stourbridge, West Mids, who held the auction, said: “Nostalgia sells.
“If this had not been seen on Only Fools, as a generic 1950s to 1970s kitsch bit of furniture it would probably be worth £200 a best.
“But it had diamond dust sprinkled on it.”
The private buyer who, with fees, will part with £27,720 is said to be “very excited” with his purchase of the bar, made by Italian firm Umberto Mascagni.
It is one of three or four used on the show.
