Confirmed: Who will sing anthem before Springbok Test in Durban

The Springboks are in Durban preparing for their final Test on home soil for this year, and there will be great interest in who will sing the national anthem before the action gets underway at Kings Park.

There have been some incredible renditions of Nkosi Sikelel’ iAfrika so far this year, and for the final game in South Africa in 2025, the honour of singing the SA national anthem will go to popular artist and songwriter Amanda Black.

Known for her Afro-soul music, which incorporates elements of R&B, soul, and hip-hop, the 32-year-old was a contestant on Idols South Africa season 11.

She achieved significant recognition in 2016 following the release of her hit single ‘Amazulu’, and her debut studio album – with the same time – would go platinum three weeks after its release, and won several music awards, including ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Best Newcomer of the Year’.

SA anthem singer will hope to get the Durban crowd in full voice before the Springbok Test

Black’s other albums include ‘Power’ (2019), ‘Mnyama’ (2021), and ‘From My Soil To Yours’ (2023).

She was named as one of the most-streamed artist on Apple Music in 2019.

Who else will be performing at Kings Park?

The Argentina national anthem will be sung by Louis Loock, a singer who was part of the successful vocal group Romanz.

He has also released solo music, with albums such as ‘Let It Be’, ‘Skatkis Tesoro’, and ‘N Nuwe Môre’, and singles like ‘Glimlag deur die seer’.

Saturday’s clash in Durban kicks off at 17:10 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
