As you start your gift shopping, Argos has potentially cut hundreds of pounds off your toy bill.

In terms of Lego, Star Wars enthusiasts will be pleased by some of the huge reductions.

The Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser would usually have set shoppers back a whopping £550.

However, the retailer has listed the item at £440, meaning you can save £120 on the limited edition item.

Another model is the X-Wing Starfighter UCS Set that is made more for adults.

You can save £55, as the product now costs £155 – down from a huge £210.

The retailer has also applied similar discounts to Harry Potter Lego sets.

For those that love the scenes in Diagon Alley, you can recreate them in Lego form with the Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes shop set.

Usually, this might have cost you £80, but Argos has slashed the price by 20 percent to just £64.

Those wanting to build the Owlery in Hogwarts Castle can also save 20 percent.

The price of the set would now set you back £32, down from a larger £40 retail price.

Bikes are also on offer for far less than their usual retail price, especially if you are buying for your kids.

The Piranha Frenzy 24-inch Wheel Kids Mountain bike would have previously cost you £180.

You can save 20 percent with the price of the contraption now slashed to £144.

How to save money on Christmas shopping

Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping.

Limit the amount of presents – buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb.

Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you’re not having to buy multiple presents.

Plan ahead – if you’ve got the stamina and budget, it’s worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales.

Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you’re not forking out more than you should though.

Buy in Boxing Day sales – some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25.

Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent.

Shop via outlet stores – you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts.

They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.

For those wanting skates instead, the Adjustable Quad Skates from Xootz are available in Black and Blue.

With an original cost of £25, you can now buy these for your kids at a half price for just £12.50.

The price of the Hot Wheels loop and launch car track has also been cut by half price, down to just £25.

Supermarket sweep

This comes as other supermarkets have also launched similar sales to bring in the customers.

Asda was one of the first to kick off its toy sale, which started on September 8, which gave parents an early chance to bag a bargain.

Discounts are on offer for popular brands like Lego and Disney.

The event for Tesco went live on September 15 as the supermarket also offered half price on selected products.

It has been sponsored by its toy partner, The Entertainer Toy Shop but is only appearing in selected larger stores across the country.

For Clubcard members, further Clubcard Price deals are available alongside the already huge sale.

Aldi‘s Christmas toy deals were launched on September 21, which brought more affordable finds to the Specialbuys aisles.

Next week, Morrisons’ mega Half Price Toy Event will launch on September 29, but it is expected to be on offer in-store only.

Some retailers will not launch their sales until we get closer to Halloween in October.

As per tradition, Sainsbury’s confirmed its toy sale will go live on Wednesday October 22.

Full details on discounts and whether the sale will also run online as well as in-store are yet to be revealed.

Smyths has lined up its Half Price Toy Sale for October 3 while its popular Voucher Code Event will go live on November 18.
