The Entertainer reveals massive change to opening hours as it creates 200 new jobs

THE Entertainer has revealed a massive change to opening hours in a move which will create 200 new jobs.

For the first time in the brands history it will open on Sunday.

The Entertainer and Early Learning Centre storefronts with "Coming Soon!" and "Recruiting Now!" signs on the windows.
The Entertainer will open on a Sunday for the first time in the brands history.

All of the brands 150 stores will face the shake-up to its trading hours.

The change will first run as a trial for a six-month period, starting from this Sunday, September 28 until Easter 2026.

After this time, The Entertainer will review customer and employee
feedback alongside commercial results before deciding whether the change should become permanent.

Previously, the Entertainer said it would not open on Sundays due to the Christian beliefs of its founder, Gary Grant, who believes Sunday is a day for rest.

Andrew Murphy OBE, group chief executive officer of The Entertainer, said: “Our trial of Sunday opening is rooted in the company’s desire to reflect the shopping preferences of our customers and further strengthen our position as the UK’s most convenient destination for toys, games & collectables.

“We’re delighted to have been able to create over 200 weekend sales assistant roles to support our new extended operation and have been overwhelmed by the response – with over 10,000 applications received in just 5 weeks.”
