THIS small island in the Grenadines archipelago is one you might not have heard of, and it’s a real hidden gem.
Known for its abundance of turtles, tortoises and beautiful beaches, the little-known island doesn’t get many tourists, which means it’s a hotspot for celebs.

Canouan sits between St Vincent and Grenada, and it’s one of the smallest measuring at three square miles and has a population of around 2,000.
Thanks to it being lesser-known, the island of Canouan has been known to be a popular Caribbean spot for celebrities.
Due to its privacy, the likes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Downey Jr., and Cindy Crawford have all been seen there.
Another reason for its popularity amongst the famous is the amount of luxury resorts there – and the fact that they all allow use of the ‘invisible key’, which means you can use facilities across all of them.
Some include the Soho Beach House and the Mandarin Oriental which has vaulted ceilings and panoramic sea views from every room.

During the months of May and October, the turtles hatch along the beach, so if you stick around until dawn, you might spot tiny hatchlings make their way from the sand to the sea.
On land, Canouan is home to the red-footed tortoise which you’re bound to encounter when exploring the island.

Other animals on the island include hummingbirds and iguanas that you might spot lounging around on rocks.

Charlestown Bay is the the main beach on Canouan, with bright blue waters and soft white sand.
Another of the popular spots is Glossy Bay which is a quiet beach, and South Glossy Bay which is a great place for anyone wanting to go snorkelling.
There’s also Godahl Beach which is for guests at the Mandarin Oriental Resort.
Around the island are coral reefs full of marine life like bright coral, shoals of fish as well as barracuda, parrotfish and eagle rays.
Away from the water, the main village is Charlestown which is in the centre of the island.
It’s got lots of places to eat from classic Caribbean eateries as well as souvenir gift shops and ice cream parlours.
For incredible views, island-goers need to head up Mount Royal; at its tallest point, the peak stands at 877 feet.
It’s well-known for being the place on the island for the best views across land and sea.
To get there Brits will have to fly to neighbouring islands like Barbados or St Vincent and take another short flight from there.
