HAVING ADHD can make managing money even harder.
Impulsive spending, forgetting bills and poor budgeting are more likely if you are one of the more than two million UK adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Four simple ways to budget your money better if you have ADHD[/caption]
As ADHD awareness month approaches in October, here are some simple ways to stay on budget.
SLAM ON THE SPENDING BRAKES: In research by MoneySuperMarket, three-quarters of people with ADHD highlighted impulsive spending as a major issue.
Try unsubscribing from shops’ emails to reduce temptation. If you can’t resist, leave something in an online basket for 24 hours to give yourself time to think if you really need it. And take your card details off websites and your phone so purchases don’t auto-complete too easily.
GAME ON: Turning money management into a game can appeal to busy minds.
Reward yourself with a small treat when you hit a savings goal and create challenges like no-spend days or rounding up your savings.
Give yourself a time to do some life admin, like sorting out your bills.
Set your alarm for 15 or 30 minutes and see how much you can achieve.
TECH TIME: According to a Monzo study, half of adults with ADHD have missed bill payments, which can result in late fees and added financial stress.
Auto-pay fixed bills such as rent, energy and broadband so you don’t have to remember. Set up direct debits to add money to savings accounts when you get paid — don’t rely on willpower to save.
SEE THINGS CLEARLY: It can be helpful to have a visual reminder of payments that are due. This could involve a calendar on your wall with all the dates in bold. You could also set payment reminders on your phone.
Many money apps use colour coding and easy graphs to help track spending and saving, which can be useful for the ADHD brain.
Try apps such as Emma, Plum, HyperJar or Snoop
