PRINCESS Kate beamed as she posed with the England Women’s Rugby team ahead of the World Cup final.
The Princess of Wales, as patron of the Rugby Football Union, is known for being a passionate supporter of the England rugby team.
In a new statement posted on social media, she said: “Good luck England!
“Wishing the very best of luck to the Red Roses in their Women’s Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham today.
“We’re so proud of you! C.”
The photograph was taken earlier this month in Brighton when the princess watched the England team play against Australia earlier on in the competition.
As well as watching this game from the stands, Kate, 43, also had a chat with the team after the game in the changing room.
The Red Roses take on Canada at Twickenham today in front of what is effectively a home crowd.
Canada know that playing England on home soil will be no easy task.
The underdogs have even been training with headphones and speakers to prepare for the noise from the 82,000 fans expected to descend upon the Allianz Stadium.
It was the Red Roses that ended Canada’s dream at the 2021 World Cup, beating them 26-19 in the semi-final in Auckland.
Princess Kate is not the only royal to issue a good luck message this Saturday, with King Charles having also released a statement this morning.
The monarch wrote: “My wife and I send our warmest good wishes to both the England Red Roses and Canada Women’s Rugby Team as you prepare for your World Cup Final.
“What a remarkable achievement for both teams to have reached this pinnacle of the sport.
“I know that supporters on both sides of the Atlantic will be cheering with equal and tremendous pride.
“May the best team win, and may you both play with the spirit of sportsmanship, determination and true grit that makes rugby such a wonderful game to watch.
“Whatever the result, you have already done your countries proud. Good luck to you all.”
