A number of players had run-ins with supporters along its historic Black course.

Shane Lowry had multiple bust-ups with fans, who were thrown out by cops.

Rory McIlroy, his playing partner, also refused to play at one point over vile heckling.

Throughout the day the European fans had to put up with fan taunts that crossed the line.

The PGA of America, who organize the Ryder Cup, released a statement on Saturday afternoon.

They announced extra security had been added to the McIlroy and Lowry against Justom Thomas ad Cameron Young game.

Meanwhile, more State Police had also been added to the other three four-ball matches as things hit boiling point.

Messages around the Bethpage Black course warned fans to control their behavior.

“We have added security and State Police to Match No. 1 as well as the other three matches in today’s afternoon four-balls,” said the PGA of America in a statement.

“Additionally, the frequency of fan behavior messaging on video boards across the golf course has increased.

“We will continue to closely monitor fan behavior and take appropriate action.”
